This T-shirt is to honour the creation of Canada's newest holiday on September 30th - The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - formerly Orange Shirt Day (read the story behind orange shirts here).
This day is an important step in the reconciliation process. It provides an opportunity to recognize and commemorate the tragic history and ongoing legacy of residential schools, and to honour their survivors, their families and communities.
The design was created by Daniel Puglas - an Indigenous artist who lives in Nanaimo, BC. 10% of all sales will go to Strong Nations an Indigenous owned and operated store and publishing house based in Victoria, BC.
Strong Nations support and transform the lives of Indigenous peoples by providing access to and demonstrating the use of Indigenous text in literacy acquisition. They proudly publish Indigenous authors from across Canada ensuring the legacy of First Nations and access of Indigenous content to all peoples in order to create pathways that support the building of strong nations together.
